News - Ealing Fostering and Adoption

October 2022 was Black History Month and this year the theme was “Time for Change: Action Not Words.” Black History Month is not just a time to celebrate the achievements and contributions of Black people to the UK across the world, it’s also a time for continued action to tackle racism, reclaim Black history, and ensure Black history is represented and celebrated throughout the year.

June 2022 was Pride Month, celebrating 50 years of Pride in the UK. This year Pride acknowledged the achievements of the LBGTQ+ community during the past 50 years as well as looking forward to the next 50 years. There were lots of special events that took place across London and the UK throughout the month. You can find out more on the Pride London website.

Foster Care Fortnight, the annual campaign organised by The Fostering Network took place 9-22 May 2022. This year the theme was #fosteringcommunities to shine a light on the many ways people across the fostering community support each other. It was also to increase awareness of fostering and to encourage more people to become foster carers. We organised a special fostering roadshow around Ealing during the fortnight and met lots of people in the community. You can find out more about Foster Care Fortnight on The Fostering Network website.

7-13 March 2022 was LGBT+ Adoption and Fostering Week. The annual event is organised by New Family Social, a UK charity, led by LGBT+ adopters and foster carers. This year the theme was ‘Be the Change’ – asking LGBT+ people to think about the range of vulnerable children they could parent or care for.
